Alan Pleym- Radio Presenter/General Assistant and live onboarding trainer
Alan started his musical life surrounded by music, his mother was a violinist, her brothers one a drummer and the other multi- Instumentalist. His grandfather was a drummer, spoon player and shanty singer traveling and entertaining during the depression to earn a quid to support the family.
With music surrounding him in all ways, jam sessions at the house with people like Tommy Tycho, musical director, composer in classical, pop and tv shows. Brian Davies and Johnny O'Keefe. Allan followed, because the rhythm was a part of him.
Alan then went to drum lessons with the same person that had taught both my uncles, Gordon Leconue, a pit drummer at the Tivoli theatre in Sydney.
Next he joined the police boys club in gymnastics and due to his drumming experience joined the police boys band as a drummer at the age of 9.
Music became a part of his life.
Jumping forward to high school, Alan was doing music as he could read music. He did well and was invited into his local school band with Gary Dixon, who went on to be in the Ted Mulray Gang. After leaving school, work and tech took over, then love came into play and then children.
After two marriages and divorces, Alan met the most wonderful girl in the world, who did ceroc dancing, acting and just loved life. So he started acting in plays, learned to dance with her, which brought rhythm and timing back into his life. The director of the Agatha Christie thriller, "And Then There Were None", told Alan he had a voice for radio' and invited him to audition, at a local community radio station.
After the audition Alan was asked to do four live takes, and they went to air. Starting at the bottom on the front desk and answering phones, the production manager invited Alan to go on air. This was exactly the opportunity Alan was waiting for.
Alan has been on air for two years in various time slots, and was on air for breakfast two days and drive one day.
Alan has a Cert 3 in Screen and Radio and assists with on Boarding, Tribute Interviews, Production and Voice overs. T
As a retired plumber, drainer, gasfitter and music fills his life, not to mention the great people he meets.
